Color: Chestnut Height 16.1hh Shocker is well-known around the stables for his mood swings. He is often calm and easygoing, seeming bored with everything he does, but with the flick of a switch he can be grouchy and downright mean. On a bad day he chases his pasture-mates constantly, biting and kicking at the others, though he is usually better about restraining his angst around humans. When happy, Shocker is easy to deal with, oblivious to much of his surroundings. He is calm and collected under saddle, never putting up a fuss with his jockey nor the other horses. Shocker is, however a very claustrophobic horse. Nothing scares him as much as being enclosed in a small space, whether it be the starting gate, a stall, or a trailer. He finds comfort in other horses during these times, and is easily calmed by a relaxed track pony.
This colt cannot stand the starting gate. He will put up a massive fight to avoid getting in the gate, rearing and kicking until he's locked in, where he continues to protest his fate with head tosses and stomps. When the gates open, however, his mindset changes completely. Although usually unimpressive in the break, he nestles himself right in the pack, turning his full attention to his jockey. Shocker is not an independent runner, and lets his jockey take charge during a race. He is a focused and calm racer, never putting up a fuss with the others. Shocker runs his own race, unfazed by what is going on around him. When asked to move ahead, Shocker jumps into his top speed, surging through the pack and ahead of the leaders.
